Versatile and highly capable, Trek’s Checkpoint ALR 4 Disc Gravel Bike has the ability to take on commuting duties and exploratory adventures with equal aplomb. The 300 Series Alpha Aluminium frame has lots of options for mounting luggage and bottle cages for long rides and also has mudguard mounts for everyday trips. Internal cable routing keeps them out of harm’s way and helps the bike’s svelte lines whilst the Stranglehold Dropout design gives the option to customise the geometry or even run a single-speed setup.

Shimano’s 10-speed GRX groupset provides both the drivetrain and the hydraulic disc brakes, ensuring that speed and cadence can be easily controlled regardless of how laden down the bike is with bikepacking luggage. 700c wheels mean that it rolls well over rough ground, with the 40c Bontrager GR1 Comp tyres a good all-round option, although the frame has clearance for 45mm rubber if more comfort or grip is required.
